VIB is one of the world’s premier life sciences research institutes and the driving force behind the Flemish biotech ecosystem. It recently launched biotope by VIB, an incubator program for early-stage biotechnology companies in the Agrifood sector in Europe.
Probitat is one of the startups currently hosted by the biotope by VIB program. We are a ground-breaking and passionate food technology company that was created to help people lead a healthier life. We specialize in developing fermented plant-based food designs, for products such as drinks, baked products, yogurts, and ice creams.
To further strengthen and expand its activities, Probitat is recruiting a Business Development Manager. We are looking for a pro-active and enthusiastic professional, with a strong scientific background in life sciences, and preferably experience in business or technology transfer positions in a life sciences industry or research institute environment.
What you will do
You will be working closely with one of the founders, Carme Plumed-Ferrer. Your responsibilities will include:
- Building a robust network with potential clients and industrial partners to create and nurture business opportunities
- Collaborating closely with Probitat internal R&D to identify and pursue promising opportunities aligned with our company’s vision
- Conducting comprehensive market studies and business analyses to drive strategic decisions and market positioning
- Negotiating and managing different types of contracts (material transfer agreements, licensing, service, R&D collaborations…)
- Actively participating in fundraising to support the next growth stage of the company
Who you are
- Hold a Ph.D. or Master's in a life sciences or health-related discipline, or equivalent by experience
- Demonstrate a strong interest in entrepreneurship and the biotech industry, in particular, current challenges within global food systems (sustainability, health, food security…)
- Combine a broad scientific background with an interest in the business aspects of translational research
- Experience in project management and business case development is an asset
- Showcase strong analytical skills
- Have strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills
- Fluency in English (verbally and in writing) is mandatory
- Display self-motivation and upbeat team player, able to work independently while contributing to the success of the team
